final reflection

What did you get out of this class? Will you use tech in your classes? How will you use tech in your classes? How has this class changed the way you think about teaching? About technology?
I really realized that technology has changed a lot lately. I used to know how to do a lot of things, or so I thought, on the computer but it changes so fast.
I would really like to use tech in my classes. It just may be difficult as a PE teacher because people don't usually think of a PE class and a computer together. Having a camera might be nice though, to show students how they do things and help them out, especially if they want to improve some certain skill.
This class has showed me that there is a way to get things to work in tech, just find the right people, and ask the right questions, and of course, mess with the program myself. As a teacher, this class really challenges me to figure out how to integrate tech into my class. I really think having a camera might be the best way to do that, and possibly even having students video tape themselves doing a skill.
I never realized that a thing called web 2.0 even existed. Its kinda cool to know that we can edit pages. I never knew that if I did the right stuff I could post stuff on sites that were wiki's. The concept of the web being able to change from everyones input is a nice thing, because there is so much information out there that no one person could possibly compile all of it, so its really helpful that everyone can contribute.
I think it could be useful in a class room if there was a board out there with ideas, kind of like a blog. Have students post ideas and game that they might think would be fun to do during class, or even drills for a sport like track or basketball that a student liked.

Studio Code schtuff

Wow that program is interesting. It worked alright, but the little things that I wanted to do I couldn't do. The program works for sure, but it just seems like it is so time consuming that its annoying. If you could export the video from the camera faster it would be AMAZING!
I also noticed that I really needed to work on my transitions because of this program. I saw that a lot of transitions were slower than I thought that they really were.

filming and reviewing

It seems to me that filming my teaching and reviewing it could help me teach better. When I set a goal on how I want to teach better, I can visually see and hear if I accomplished the goal I set for myself. I think the self evaluation is the best part about it, so that I can become a better teacher and also fulfill the personal goals I set on how I would like to improve.

Backflip Video

This was an interesting task. Having to use i-movie was complicated. It was hard to get everything I wanted to work, but it worked out alright. Getting my music to the volume I wanted was difficult, but I cut it up into smaller pieces and it seemed to work just fine.

Internet safety

Wow I totally must not have posted anything on internet safety! I remember writing the paper, but I must have just spaced putting something out here. So internet safety is good stuff, and I really think its true that we shouldn't put out to much information on the internet. Nobody knows how many people have looked at or seen what they have posted. It also can really hurt you if you put stuff out there for job interviews and things. I'm in a leadership class at the MTC right now, and the teacher interviews a lot of people and he said that the internet is a great way to get to know people, and also that he has considered and passed by some people because of the things posted on the internet. Another fun fact was the shttp for it being sercure. Thats a good tip on things, I just think its funny now that I have looked for it a lot of places don't really have it, like hotmail and this blogger thing. One more reason to not just have one password for all of your accounts I guess because if they get one, they can get more.

I-movie

I-movie is a crazy odd program. I have used windows movie maker with decent success, but that program has so many more bells and whistles that are hard to use, its difficult to understand. Hopefully with some more time playing with it, I will understand it. Am I the only one that thinks that we should be able to choose which program we want to use??? How many of us have macs to begin with, and how much easier would it be if we could use our PC's at home to do homework and not have to come to campus to get things done. The one nice thing about I-movie though, is that it does seem like it has more options and things to do than windows movie maker, so maybe it will look more professional, once I/we learn how to use the program correctly.
